Work on the Ranch
This was a mixture of students from Cesar Chavez After School
Service Club from Greer Middle and Galt Area Youth Coalition subcommittee of
Youth L.E.A.D. ( Youth Leading, Energizing, Aspiring, and Dedication) from
Arcohe, New Hope and Galt School Districts.

After the hard work, the students relax, eat, talk with
friends and make new ones. These are good friends Diana Alvarez (11 at
Greer) and Juana Valencia (13 at Greer) resting while they tell about the jobs
that they did.

Chris B (11 at Valley Oaks) is picking up litter to make the
place cleaner and neater. He is a hard worker.

This was a lawnmower that is now converted to hold a powerful
magnet. By pushing it around the parking lot, hundreds of nails get picked
up. This helps prevent flat tires. Amanda Griffin is 11 and goes to
school at Greer on the west side of Galt.

The garden was one of the projects that these students
attended to with vigor. Desiree Maldonado is 11 and goes to Greer Middle
School in Galt.

Kaitlyn Rameriz is 12 and also a student at Greer. She
is learning how to make long straight rows for planting.

Diana Garcia is 11 and attends Greer too. She is very
proud of the tree that she just planted.

Kalyn Farmer is 12 at Greer and is getting ready to enjoy her
snacks after an afternoon of work. I think that she likes her dad.

Roasted marshmallows, hot dogs, veggies and other snacks
finished out the work afternoon.
